On the opening day of the ESRI User Conference 2009, global map data pioneers, Europa Technologies, are exhibiting a very special and unique map. The A1-size map shows the San Francisco bay area, but has been produced using a Lenticular lens. This gives the map a special property of changing between a street map and satellite image, depending on the viewing angle. At certain positions, a hybrid view can be seen.

Warren Vick, Founder and Executive Director of Europa Technologies commented, "Web-based mapping services commonly have the capability to switch between a map and aerial view. We wanted to see if we could reproduce this effect in a printed map using the magic of a Lenticular lens. The results are astounding and we hope this will be a popular entry at the ESRI User Conference Map Gallery. I believe this will be the first map of its kind in the history of this event.".

The San Francisco bay area Lenticular map was produced using Europa Technologies own global data products, Global Insight Plus and Global Visage.

Although not planned to be a mainstream business activity, Europa Technologies welcome enquiries from clients wishing to commission a map using Lenticular.
