Description

Global Insight Lite is the entry level data set in the Global Insight product line. The product provides an up-to-date political map at 1:3,000,000 scale, including some first level administrative divisions and a gazetteer of over 20,000 named places. Place names are in local and alternative forms (English conventional name, foreign language, second national language or long/short form). All place names (except Japanese which requires special support) use accented characters where required using a standard ANSI character set or Unicode Latin 1 code page. Other characters, such as those from Eastern Europe, Cyrillic and areas of the Far East are correctly transliterated to their Romanised form.

Global Insight Lite is an excellent choice for users requiring a medium resolution political map with the ability to perform city/town level searches. Like the larger gazetteer in Global Insight (>850,000 places), the alternative names layer allows searches to match many places with alternative spellings. The Global Insight Lite gazetteer is derived from the most significant cities and towns from Global Insight. Place data records include country name and 1st level administrative region (where available) which assists when identifying an ambiguous name.

Global Insight Lite is a "soft product" downloaded from a protected area of the Europa Technologies web site, with no printed documentation or packaging. User documentation is supplied in Adobe Acrobat PDF format.

Global Insight Lite is the first product in its class to offer free quarterly updates for one year.

Annual Maintenance

For single and multi-user licences, maintenance includes all updates for one year; add 50% to costs above.

Web & Server Licences

Global Insight Lite may be deployed in an Internet / intranet web environment or used in a central server based capacity for an annual fee of three times single user price. If the use of the product includes service resale (ASP models, etc.), the annual fee is five times the single user price. Prices include all updates for each licenced year. For intranet or server based applications where the number of users is limited, the multi-user licence pricing above (one-off payment, perpetual licence) may be used. All web/server licences are per application, per year. There are no restrictions to the number of servers, users or hits.
